Affogato

The best part about waking up is a cup of my favorite coffee.

Love cannot be defined in words but when it comes to ‘coffee’ I can whisk up a hearty conversation. In case you didn’t know ‘coffee’ happens to be the most consumed beverage in the world and I fell in love with it at 14.

If you’re a coffee genius, you’ll probably pass this post. It’s okay! I’m a coffee monster and this is my first blog.

There are around 100 different types of coffees in the world. But I shall stick to a few to begin with.
Affogato: For those who do not know what really an affogato is…Its an Italian word for “drowned”. It usually takes the form of a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso.

Café au lait: is often used in coffee shops. It’s a French coffee drink consisting strong or bold coffee mixed with scalded milk in approx. 1:1 ratio.

Café latte meaning ‘coffee’ and ‘milk’ is made with espresso and steamed cow’s milk or soy milk.

Cafe mocha: It is a variant of a café latte. It is typically 1/3rd espresso and 2/3rds of steamed milk, but a portion of chocolate is added, in the form of a chocolate syrup. Vending machines may use instant chocolate powder too. Mochas can contain dark or milk chocolate.

Café mélange: I haven’t tried this one. But I’ve heard its a black coffee mixed (“mélange”) or covered with whipped cream. If you have tried this one. Please share the details 😉

Cappuccino: This coffee-based drink is prepared using espresso, hot milk, and steamed milk foam. The reason why a Cappuccino is served in porcelain cup is because it has better heat retention than glass or paper. Now that sounds geeky ;P That foam that you see on the top of the cappuccino acts as insulator that helps retain the heat of the liquid, allowing your coffee to stay hotter longer. So the next time you order a Cappuccino and the foam’s missing, you can act like a genius 😉

Cinnamon Spice Mocha: Well this one’s a mocha mixed with cinnamon syrup, topped with milk foam and cinnamon powder. Not like my favorite but yeah sharing is caring. Talking about “knowledge” ;P

Decaf: It’s as simple as a bean. It’s made out of decaffeinated beans.

Frappuccino: Did you know? Frappuccino is the name and registered trademark of a Starbucks blended ice beverage and a bottled coffee beverage? It’s yum and there are flavors: Coffee, Espresso, Caramel, Mocha, Java Chip (My favorite :D), Peppermint Mocha, Green Tea, and many more.

Iced coffee: It’s also known as Cold coffee. Simple? 🙂

Indian filter coffee: also known as Madras Filter Coffee or Kapi is a sweet milky coffee made from dark roasted coffee beans and chicory, especially popular in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Instant coffee: The Instant coffee is doing a good business in the market too. It works best for people who are less active or are constantly working and have no time to grab their yum cappuccino, etc. Instant coffee is basically a coffee dehydrated into the form of powder or granules which can be rehydrated with hot water to provide a almost similar in taste to the natural coffee.

Irish coffee: You see the reason that it is called the ‘Irish’ coffee is because it consists of a blend of Irish whiskey, hot coffee, cream and sugar. The best part about this coffee is that you have to drink it through the cream. Yum, isn’t it? The next time you cannot decide whether to have whiskey or coffee, you drink up an Irish coffee 😉

Macchiato: This coffee is made out of espresso with a dash of milk. You can share your versions of Macchiato with me.

Mocha

Sammy Sosa

Sammy Sosa is more like a funky bar and a perfect chill-out for everyone at Oshiwara. They have a pretty decent decor with an au fait Mexican touch. They have an extensive menu with a lot of variety to choose from Veg as well as Non-veg. I ordered for a Non-veg meal, ‘Santa Fe Chicken’ and totally savored every bite of it. About 2-3 chicken breasts grilled and marinated on a bed of Mexican rice is a lip smacking mean and absolutely satisfying too.

Coming to the bar menu… Sammy Sosa does offer a huge collection of wines, cocktails, beers, and other mocktails. You’re sure to have a tough time deciding which one you should go for because all of them are so inviting and so amazingly described. 😀

It’s always good to go with a barfly with whom you can share and switch drinks with. Well, I went with two 😉 We ordered for few wine cocktails and some regular ones too. Alcohol can be a little heavy on the pocket but if you’re in a good mood, at a good place, and with the right people eating good food, you wouldn’t bother much.

My concerns: It would be great to have a variety in complimentary snacks too. Secondly, please have some board games or something to pass time for, till our meals arrive. Yes, the service is a bit slow, nevertheless, the stewards are very helpful and friendly.

Overall:
Food: 10/10
Drinks: 9/10 (Depends from person to person)
Ambience: 10/10

I have had a real good time enjoying my favorite meal. If you’re in a mood for some Mexican madness, then don’t forget to experience it at ‘Sammy Sosa.’

24/7* Mad Over Donuts!

Love at first bite! Just like their motto suggests…

I have a sweet tooth and M.O.D is the most convenient & sweetest doughnut spot. However, since it’s Mad Over ‘Donuts’, I’ll stick to using that word. It’s ‘Hazel Dazzle’ that I fell in love with. I like my ‘doughnut’ (pun-intended) warm especially when it’s Hazel Dazzle. The chocolate filling of the donut simply creates a mustache-like on my face and I feel like a kid all over again 🙂

The amazing aroma and smell of chocolate gives me a sweet kick. I always begin to crave for donuts on random nights. So I always pick a box on the weekends.
